Coach’s Thoughts:
From Coach Josh –
“Your success is ultimately up to you, not someone else promising to hold you accountable. That’s what I call ‘the myth of accountability.’ Disclaimer: full blog coming on this one!
What you need to know is that no matter your goal, your steps need to be small in order for you to sustain any sort of progress you make. Don’t look for short cuts, hacks, duct tape solutions, or cheat codes. They don’t last. Plus, what’s the hurry?
Success requires three variables: focus, effort, and time.
Focus is knowing what you want. Getting a real clear picture of what you are really striving for and why.
Effort speaks to an investigation of your resources like time, money, support, environment, and your skillset.
Time is about patience. How long do you have to do the thing? This needs to be balanced against the first two – if you’re continually changing from one goal to another, your timeline needs to be extended a lot. If your effort isn’t high, same thing. Want to know the coolest part of all this? If you just fall in love with the process, not the outcome, everything ends up working out in the long run.
Good things take time.
Great things? Even longer.
As my dad always said to me growing up: slow and steady wins the race.”

In case you have kids in our Teen Program, we wanted to make you aware of a few changes to their class time on Monday thanks to recent changes by the Hillsborough County School Board:
- Monday, Oct 24th – 2:45-3:45
- Monday, Oct 31st – 2:45-3:45
- Monday, Nov 7th, 14th, and 28th – 3:45-4:45
- Monday, Dec 5th, 12th, and 19th – 3:45-4:45
- All other classes remain unchanged.
We also wanted to give you a heads up for our holiday schedule for the youth classes. As we’ve historically done, we follow the school calendar so there will be no youth classes for the following weeks:
- Week of Nov 21st – 25th
- Week of Dec 26th – 30th
It would hard to wrap up this newsletter without addressing probably the biggest event to impact all of us in the last month – Hurricane Ian. While I know that most of us in the immediate area escaped with minimal damage, a loss of power, and a LOT of yard work, that is not the reality from others to the South. I am so grateful that we didn’t have a direct hit up Tampa Bay, because things could have been much worse. I pray that we all learned a bit more about how to be prepared.
One of the joys of the past few weeks has been the stories I’ve heard of people reaching out to help their neighbors in whatever ways they could manage, whether that was cleaning up debris, making meals, offering a house with power to those without – in all its forms generosity and love for your neighbor is truly a biblically beautiful thing. Thank you for being the hands and feet for those around the community!
That wraps up Volume 3 of our Monthly Newsletter. As always, if there’s anything you’d like us to write/talk/video about, just hit ‘reply’ and let me know!
Sincerely,
Josh
P.S. If you think a friend would like this, please forward it along to them as well.
P.S.S. Oh yea – we did add even more to the playlist this month…but you’ll have to come in and dance with us to find out!
